Avahi -
Zeroconf specification free implementation of Ap ple Inc.., Including a system for the detection of multicast DNS / DNS-SD. Avahi allows programs to publish and discovery of servi ces and hosts on the local network. For example, a user can conne ct your laptop to the network and immediately detected the printer, service type FTP or SSH and even people with whom you can talk. The whole program is available under the LGPL. Thanks to modular architecture, Avahi is integrated with the main graphical environments like GNOME and KDE.
